all is well in moderation

The key to success, happiness, health, etc., is not doing, having, or consuming too much of a certain thing. Red wine, dark chocolate, and coffee are often said to be beneficial to health—but always in small quantities. All is well in moderation. My kids always want sweets, but I've tried to teach them that all is well in moderation. I think the idea that "all is well in moderation" is definitely applies to the news. Sure, you need to know what's going on in the world, but too much news just makes you anxious.

Not to an excessive amount or degree. Red wine, dark chocolate, and coffee are often said to be beneficial to health—but always in moderation. Once I started eating sweets more in moderation, I realized how much sugar had been affecting my physical and mental health. That's why I've cut it out completely now. Sure, you need to know what's going on in the world, but too much news just makes you anxious. So I'd suggest watching it in moderation.
