If I tell you, I'll have to kill you.

cliché A statement indicating (usually ironically) that some piece of information must remain a secret. A: "How on earth did you convince the boss to approve a budget increase for the project?" B: "Well, if I tell you, I'll have to kill you." That's a state secret, I'm afraid. If I tell you, I'll have to kill you. Sure, I know who really stole the test answers, but if I tell you, I'll have to kill you.
