free time

Time that one is not obligated to spend in any specific manner, and thus can be used for any activity one desires; leisure time. The tour group gives you a few hours of free time in each city they visit, so you'll have the chance to explore it a bit on your own. I don't think kids should have too much free time. They should spend their time learning something or participating in an activity. Just when you think you've got some free time, there's more laundry to fold. Truly, housework is never done.
