Dutch feast

dated A gathering at which the host gets drunk before their guests do. Keep the drink away from me. These are very important men in town, so I cannot make a Dutch feast of things tonight. Edward doesn't drink anymore, so you know this evening at his estate won't become a Dutch feast. I didn't realize we'd been invited to a Dutch feast. A host more intoxicated than his guests is a pitiful sight.
