duces tecum

From Latin, meaning "bring with you," a legal writ requiring a person summoned to appear in court to bring with them some specific document. Almost always used after the word "subpoena." The plaintiff was issued a subpoena duces tecum for any and all documents proving their association with the company they were pressing charges against. You received a subpoena duces tecum but you already destroyed the documents the court wants to see? Well, now you're looking at obstruction charges on top of everything else! Don't panic, this is a standard subpoena duces tecum. They just want to review your financial records.
