creature of the night

obsolete slang A prostitute. A: "I think that Lord Stewart is spending time with a creature of the night." B: "No, surely not!" Someone needs to tell young Reginald that a woman with a reputation as a creature of the night has no place being brought into this celebrated family. I'm a happily married man—I have no interest in becoming involved with a creature of the night.
