Coincidentally; surprisingly; as a matter of fact. Often said of an unlikely or unusual fact, event, or circumstance. My wife's been offered a new job in London. As it happens, we were already thinking of moving there sometime soon! As it happens, I did remember to pick up dinner on the way home from work. A: "Do you know any good artists?" B: "You know, as it happens, my neighbor exhibits art around the world!"

used when you say something that is surprising, or something connected with what somebody else has just said: I agree with you, as it happens.As it happened, I had a spare set of keys in my bag.
