(one) has made (one's) bed

One must endure the unpleasant situation that they have created. A shortened version of "(one) has made (one's) bed and (one) will have to lie in it" (and all similar variations). I don't feel at all bad that he has no friends after having sold everyone out on his way to the top. He's made his bed. Of course Joanne's mad at you—you lied to her! I'm sorry, honey, but you made your bed. Will has to do jail time for embezzling money from the company? Well, then, he has made his bed—I have no sympathy for him.
