To perform some task in a way that is dated or antiquated but which is still able to produce reliable results. There's a small boutique publisher in this city who still prints books by setting type the old-fashioned way. If you want to achieve real financial security, you've got to ditch the flashy smartphone apps and do it the old-fashioned way—by saving your money aggressively and investing in low-risk stocks with high long-term yields. Yep, I still send Christmas cards, and I fill out all my envelopes the old-fashioned way—by hand.
