Although lead shot has been banned from waterfowl hunting in this region for more than a decade, the researchers have identified several foraging sites where old lead pellets are still abundant in soil. The object was a lead shot pellet, possibly but not normally used in Sweden for hunting wild boar or roe deer. Efforts to phase out the lead shot began in the 1970s and lead shot for waterfowl hunting was banned nationwide in 1991. |
